I’ve decided that the first blog post is not, in fact, the hardest. It’s actually the second. The first post is the introduction, which is fairly straightforward and uneventful. The second post, however, sets the course for the rest of the content. So that’s just a little intimidating to think about.
I guess I should probably provide an update on my life, both for those who already know me and those who don’t. I’m a junior at the University of Georgia, and I’m majoring in International Affairs, Economics, and Public Relations. Wow, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it? As such, I’m a bit of a self-described nerd. I actually get a lot of joy out of studying and learning new material, so long as I manage my time well and don’t get in situations where I’m trying to quickly learn information for a graded assignment – at that point it’s not fun anymore.
I’m very politically-minded, and I want to go to law school one day. I’d love to play a role in shaping public policy and the way the world works. I also want to travel as much as I can, which explains why I’m planning to spend my spring semester at Oxford University. So far, most of my international travels have been to Europe, so I’d like to branch out sometime in the future and visit either Africa or Asia.
I have a number of hobbies, from running (and working out in general) to reading and many things in between. I have a soft spot in my heart for all things Harry Potter, and I’m somewhat of a coffee snob (although I love Starbucks peppermint mochas as much as the next girl). I also really love dogs, particularly corgis and French bulldogs. As soon as I move into an apartment that allows me to have pets, I’m adopting a corgi named Fitzgerald and a Frenchie named Padfoot. Also, a cat named Ruth (after the Supreme Court Justice, of course). I don’t know why I’ve already named animals that I probably won’t get for another five years, but I just really love planning ahead.
Personality-wise, I’m about as Type A as they come. I thrive off of being busy, which probably explains why I’m almost always doing something between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm. Style-wise, I’m a bit on the traditional/preppy side. I own an embarrassing number of cardigans and button downs, and I wouldn’t ever really describe myself as “trendy.” Although I do have a penchant for super-dark lipstick, and apparently that’s a trend at the moment.
I hope you all enjoyed that little introduction to me, and maybe now I’ll start posting actual content instead of little biographical blurbs.
xo, Taylor
Just stumbled upon your blog after seeing your comment on The College Prepster today. Based on your post here it sounds like we have a lot in common as far as running, being Type A, loving coffee and Harry Potter. And I looks like we started our blogs around the same time 🙂
Good luck!
