I’m going to make a statement that may be a bit controversial amongst college students: I don’t think giant T-shirts and Nike shorts should be daily class attire. I love casual clothes as much as the next gal, but they’re just not quite the type of thing you should be wearing to class. I say this for two reasons: first, the way you dress impacts the way you feel. If you rolled out of bed and showed up to class, you’re just not going to feel on top of your game. It also works with professors – as much as I’d love to say appearance doesn’t matter, it’s a simple fact that professors tend to take you a bit more seriously when you’re not showing up to class in your pajamas.
However, I don’t think this means you need to dress in business casual every day or wear anything uncomfortable. There are definitely those days where you just need to rock a T-shirt and athletic shorts, but overall I like my look to be just a touch more polished. And it’s 100% possible to wear casual and comfortable clothes that still make a good impression. Take, for example, this outfit. It’s basically a T-shirt and shorts, but dressed up a little bit.
Instead of an oversized T-shirt, I’m wearing a fitted V-neck tee, and I’ve swapped out the Nike shorts for these adorable shorts that tie in the front. The loose fit of the shorts means that they feel like I’m wearing pajama shorts, but they look 10x cuter.
Another key aspect of my class attire is accessories. While my clothes themselves are pretty casual, I’m able to dress up the look with a few simple accessories, like my necklace and my JORD watch. JORD sent me this beautiful wood watch, and I’m so excited to incorporate it into my day-to-day style. The dark- and light-toned wood paired with the emerald face looks so high quality. I love that it gives an extra little “oomph” to my look.
Speaking of JORD watches, I’ve also partnered with them for a giveaway! If you click this link, you can enter to win a $100 credit towards a JORD watch. The watches start as low as $139, so with this credit you’d be able to get a high quality and beautiful watch for $40! Seriously, that’s such an amazing deal.
So is anyone on my side in this debate? What’s your go-to class outfit?
