I’m officially making monthly favorites a regular thing. I feel like most of my posts can be a bit impersonal – they’re usually giving life advice or outfit inspiration, so there’s not a ton of room to talk about those random little things I’ve gotten obsessed with recently or just give brief updates on my life. So the monthly favorites live on. Here’s what I was loving in the month of August.
Washington DC
If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you know I spent the summer in DC interning for a nonprofit. While I was there, I absolutely fell in love with the city – there’s so much rich history as well as fun things to do. It’s also, in my mind, a perfect transition city. Despite always having an affinity for cities, I’ve only ever lived in more suburban areas. I’d love to go to law school in New York City or Chicago, which is a dramatically different from my suburban little hometown. DC is a nice halfway point between the two – there are parts that feel like a city and parts that feel more like a neighborhood. I love the balance between the two, and I’m now planning to move there after graduation.
Dunkin Donuts Mocha Oreos
I’m usually pretty good about not bringing “junk food” into the apartment, but I saw these little guys at Target and couldn’t resist. I have a weak spot for anything coffee and chocolate flavored. I actually don’t like plain Oreo frosting all that much (I know, I’m weird), but the nice mocha kick in these is amazing. A pack of these also lasts me forever – I usually try to limit myself to 2 per day, which means a pack lasts me over 2 weeks.
“Silence” by Marshmello and Khalid
I’ve basically been listening to this song on repeat since around August 10. Khalid has such a soothing voice, and it pairs so well with the slight EDM feel of the background. It’s just a jam, ya know? (If you’re reading this and surprised that “Look What You Made Me Do” didn’t end up being on my favorites list, know that it’s a close second. That music video is art.)
Corgi/Game of Thrones Twitter Thread
I was really frustrated with work one night, and one of my friends sent me a link to this Twitter thread. Basically, it’s corgi gifs paired with events from Game of Thrones. My corgi obsession hasn’t really been addressed fully on this blog, but I have a borderline-ridiculous obsession with corgis. I think I almost cried tears of happiness scrolling through this, and I now have it saved on my phone to look at any time I need a little mood booster.
Ok we’re doing this. I present to you a thread of corgis acting out #GoT scenes. Get ready. pic.twitter.com/2qfKO62tls

Ed Sheeran Concert
My dad bought us tickets to go see Ed Sheeran in concert (he’s one of the few artists we both enjoy, so he was psyched when he saw that Ed was coming to Georgia). Now, I’m not an expert in music, but he’s probably one of the best performers I’ve ever seen live. The man performed with no band, and essentially provided his own background track using a loop pedal. That’s some serious talent. Not to mention I’ve been obsessed with Ed Sheeran since his first album – it was the first CD I had in my car when I turned 16.
Tombow Brush Pens
Honestly, new school supplies could have been its own favorite. I think these pens take the cake though. I’ve written headings in a hand-lettering style (where the downward strokes are thicker) for a while, but it’s so much easier and more fun when you’ve got brushes designed for that type of writing. I love posting motivational quotes on my Twitter page, and thanks to these brush pens, I’ve started doing them by hand. Get them on Amazon here.
That’s my favorites from August for you! What’s been on your radar this month?

ONE OF MY FRIENDS?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
I was wondering about those Dunkin donut Oreos!!! I will have to try them. Also, my corgi obsession rubbed off on my mom, so my parents have one. I just wanted to say that they are as fabulous in person as they are on the internet! Daisy is a sassy, furry angel!
One of my best friends went to DC last year and her photos looked amazing. I’m not a fan of big, bustling cities (I hate London) but I love cities with green space that feel a bit more relaxed.
I’m still not sure how I feel about Look What You Made Me Do. Maybe it’s because I’ve not had chance to sing along to it in the car yet. Have you heard Ready For It yet? I love that one already.
I’m a huge fan of Ready For It too!
