I’ve been obsessed with the look of over-the-knee boots for a while now, and I finally picked up a pair of them on Black Friday. I think they make such great nighttime outfits – they’re so dramatic and work so well with dresses and skirts. However, I didn’t want to relegate these boots for only nighttime wear. These two outfits are the result of me styling these over-the-knee boots in ways that let them work for everyday wear.
These boots are dramatic. In this outfit, I definitely let the boots take center stage, and made the rest of the outfit pretty simple. A crew neck sweater, dark jeans, and a black choker are all straight-forward pieces. As a result, the boots are a bit more dressed down and more suitable to wear during the daytime.

Over-the-knee boots are just made for dresses. I love the symmetry between the hemline of the dress and the top of the boots just a few inches later (however, I’d highly recommend wearing tights if you’re wearing this in below-freezing weather like I was – I think my legs went numb for a hot second there). Like the first outfit, this dress is a more casual take, which means that the overall look is a bit more understated. And since it’s pretty cold outside at the moment, I threw on my favorite coat. I also love the extra hemline in this look – I don’t know why I’m so into that symmetry but I am.

I’m so excited to continue to style these boots, both for daytime looks like these and for dramatic nighttime looks. Because, you know, I need dramatic nighttime looks all the time (LOL nope). What’s your go-to outfit to pair with over-the-knee boots?
