One of the most dreaded descriptions of workplace dress code has to be “business casual.” For women especially, this can mean so many things, and different workplaces all have their own interpretations of what is and isn’t considered business casual. As a result, putting together an outfit that fits that dress code (especially before you’ve figured out what the company really means by business casual) can be a bit tricky.
If you’re stumped on putting together the perfect business casual outfit, you’ve come to the right place. Today’s post is a foolproof “business casual” look – it’s 100% workplace appropriate but doesn’t veer too far towards business professional either.
Basically, this look is an incredibly simple equation: straight leg pants + blouse + cardigan + low heels = foolproof business casual. It’s also a look you can easily throw together using items from your own closet, because there’s a pretty high chance you have most, if not all, of these items already. (Although you can probably still justify a shopping trip for more clothes that fit this formula as well, because who doesn’t love new clothes?)
If you’re looking for a spot to buy affordable, work-appropriate clothing, J. Crew Factory is 100% my go-to. (If you notice, all of the links I’ve included are J. Crew Factory links because this entire outfit is from there.) They’ve got amazing basics and are nowhere near as expensive as the original J. Crew. 10/10 would recommend.
(linking a similar look for the top and cardigan because the ones I have aren’t in stock anymore!)
