These days, my outfits are either business casual or workout clothes, with very minimal in between. I blame the fact that the majority of my time is spent either at work or in the gym. I’ve gotten really into creating cute work-appropriate outfits for spring lately, so that’s what today’s post is all about.
I’ve talked about this in a few past fashion posts, but I basically get the entirety of my workwear wardrobe from J. Crew Factory. They’ve got a really reliable selection of basics (pants, cardigans, blouses, etc.), but they’ve also got some fun and unique stuff as well. I picked up this scalloped hem skirt from there recently, and I’ve had so much fun putting together different outfits with it.
These two outfits are almost identical – I only changed one piece between the two. But they give off totally different vibes, from more conservative and neutral to totally out there. The first outfit of the two is the more “toned-down” one – the skirt paired with a chambray button down. It’s all very neutral-toned (if you consider army green a neutral, which it almost is at this point). I like tying my button-downs at the waist, but if you’re going to do that for work, I’d highly recommend wearing a tank underneath so you don’t accidentally show skin.
The second pairing I created is a bit crazier, but I’m obsessed with it. It actually happened as a complete accident – I was trying on both the skirt and the top at the same time, with absolutely no intention of wearing them together, and suddenly realized ‘dang, these two pieces actually look really good together.’ In a completely out there, intentionally mismatched type of way. Which I am 100% here for.
Which combo do you prefer?
xo, Taylor
