I’ve been struggling with how to write a favorites post for this month. Normally, my favorites posts are mostly product-based – it’s all clothing items and beauty products and foods I’ve been loving. However, since I’ve been spending the majority of May in South Africa, I haven’t exactly been exploring new products as much as I normally do. So this post is going to be about half products, and half completely random things related to my experiences throughout the month.
Gymshark Flex leggings
This is now two months in a row where a Gymshark item has made it onto my favorites list (and it might make an appearance on my June one too because I have an order waiting for me when I get back to the states. I feel like the Flex leggings, which are the ones that are covered in contouring, became a huge thing like a year ago, but I actually didn’t like the first pair I got. Then I found out it was a sizing issue, ordered the correct size, and the rest is history. I got a purple pair and am trying to exercise at least some restraint and not get a pair of khaki ones.
Hogwarts Mystery
If some Harry Potter-related product exists, there’s about a 98% chance I’m obsessed with it. So naturally, when I found out about an iPhone game where you play as a Hogwarts student, I was super excited about it. The game is a little annoying at times (and vaguely reminds me of Kim Kardashian Hollywood), but all in all I’m kind of hooked on it.
Surfing
So one of the things I did on a free day here in South Africa is take a surfing lesson (see the featured photo from my last post). And holy guacamole, I loved it. I’m already trying to figure out my next potential opportunity to go surfing somewhere.
Washi tape
Back at the end of April, I bought a huge collection of washi tape from Hobby Lobby because it was 50% off. It’s now become a major element of my bullet journal layouts – I love how they make a page so much more colorful. This is probably starting a rather dangerous trend; I can definitely see myself going off the deep end and winding up with 100+ different types of washi.
My blue Instagram theme
I’ve never been an “Instagram theme” type of gal, other than the time that I consistently alternated between person and object photos. I love how they look, but I could never commit to any sort of consistency in my pictures. Somehow, I accidentally developed a blue theme in my first week of being in South Africa, and now I’m kind of obsessed with it. It’s just… so pretty. (We’ll see how long it lasts – inevitably I’ll take a good picture without any blue in it and just give up completely.
And that’s it for May! Here’s to a jam-packed June.

(PS: The alliteration in that last sentence was not intentional. But I’m not mad about it.)
I’m so impressed you’ve taken surfing lessons, that sounds so fun!
