It’s almost the new year, and a new year means a new bullet journal! I’m going to be entirely honest, I have way too much fun researching and coming up with new spread ideas each year. And this year’s bullet journal is probably the most elaborate yet – I’ve gotten comfortable with the simple pen and paper spreads and have started branching out more into fun things like washi tape and stickers.
I’ve talked about this in my bullet journaling beginners post, but I’m a huge advocate for starting off super simple and getting more complex as you get more comfortable and consistent with the concept of keeping a bullet journal. And since this is my third year of using a bullet journal as my planner of choice, I feel totally justified in my decision to start making things a little more #fancy.
My main tools for this year’s bullet journal are:
- Leuchtermm1917 dotted A6 journal (in gold this year!)
- Sharpie pens
- Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens
- Zebra Mildliner highlighters
- Washi tape
- Stickers from ATArtDigital on Etsy
The Cover Page
I was in the mood for a pretty Harry Potter-themed cover page, found a similar version to this online, and made it my own!
Yearly Overview
I always love having a page where I can write big dates in advance, especially since I’m doing all my monthly spreads as the month comes this time around.
Birthdays and Holidays
I’m admittedly the worst with remembering birthdays, so hopefully this spread will help me do better – I definitely need to actually fill it out more than this, though.
Bill Tracker
As a recent grad who’s newly responsible for all of her own expenses, I thought this would be nice to track how much I’m spending, as well as a pretty way to remind me to pay all my bills on time.
Law School Application Spread
This is just a really simple spread for me to track all my law school apps and their progress. I’m wanting to keep track of this whole process – both for personal reasons and so that I can do some posts and videos about it eventually – and having all this information at my fingertips will really help with that.
Blogging Spreads
I’m really hoping to buckle down and get more serious about my blog/YouTube/etc. this year, so these spreads (one tracking blog posts/videos and the other tracking stats and income) are going to be really helpful with that.
Monthly Spread
Here’s where my new stickers really came into play. I got these from an Etsy shop called ATArtDigital, and they’re a super inexpensive JPG download. From there, I resized them for my bullet journal, printed them on sticker paper, and cut them out myself – it’s a way less expensive option than ordering pre-printed and pre-cut options.
Weekly Spread
Ahh, I switched up my weekly spread for the first time in a year and a half! This feels like such a major change for me, but the old weekly spreads were just a lot of unnecessary space for what I needed – so I adjusted it to something that works a little better for me.
Here’s to a well-organized 2019!
