oh boy, it’s been a while since i’ve written a favorites post! it’s also been a while since i’ve written an actual blog post instead of doing a video, so that applies here too i guess. i feel like, given that i’m only posting weekly at the moment, seasonal favorites make way more sense than monthly ones. this also means that i’m going to have some incredibly long favorites posts, because instead of just summarizing a month, i’m summarizing three of them!
(also yes, i know summer doesn’t theoretically end until september 21, but honestly, as soon as labor day happens and starbucks starts serving pumpkin spice, it’s as good as fall to me.)
prettylittlething pinafore dress and denim skirt
summers in dc are absurdly hot, so dresses and skirts are definitely the way to go. i feel like my personal style has taken on a very strong 90s vibe lately, so this black pinafore style dress, layered with a basic tee, and this light-wash denim skirt have both become two staples in my wardrobe.
black choker set
i’ve been on a black choker kick lately, and after the main one i wore all the time broke, i found out that they sell massive packs of black chokers on amazon for approximately $10. there are some duds in the pack – a few with kinda tacky gemstones or charms – but for the most part, you get a ton of variety for dirt cheap. having so many different styles to choose from is a ton of fun – i’m particularly a fan of the stretchy black one that looks like those tattoo chokers everyone was obsessed with in the 90s.
adidas superstars
i get that these became trendy like two years ago, but i’ve only just joined the bandwagon. they’re the perfect casual trainers, and the simple black and white look matches with pretty much everything i wear. not to mention, they’re super comfy and i got them on sale, so i’ll take that as a double win.
alani nu sour peach rings bcaas
i’ve been drinking the xtend bcaas for years, but i decided to switch it up and try alani nu a few months ago, and i am SO glad i did. the sour peach ring flavor is the only one i’ve tried, and it’s probably the only one i’ll ever try, because i just love it SO dang much. i love actual peach rings, and this drink mix captures the flavor perfectly. i’ve also got the rainbow candy pre-workout and fruity cereal protein, both of which are also incredible – they’ve become my supplement staples lately.
peach perrier
i’m clearly just on a peach kick, but this is maybe my favorite flavored seltzer out there. i’m really trying to tone down my diet coke consumption just a little bit, and substituting it with sparkling water usually does the trick. it obviously doesn’t taste quite as good, but it is notably healthier and i don’t feel like i’m destroying myself when i drink 3 cans in a day, so it balances out.
becca highlighter in champagne pop
yet another item where i’m very late in joining the cult obsession. i love aggressively sparkly highlighter – i often actually spray my brush with fix+ to intensify my highlighter, but i honestly don’t even need to do that with this incredible powder. it’s a gorgeous golden color that makes my skin glow, and the color payoff is nothing short of incredible. i really don’t know why it took me so long to discover this stuff, but i’ll probably never switch highlighters ever again.
ouai volume shampoo and conditioner
HOLY GRAIL HAIR PRODUCTS OMG. my hair is super color-treated (aka i’ve bleached it a lot), so i’m super sensitive about not washing my hair too frequently. this is one of the few shampoo/conditioner duos i’ve found that doesn’t slowly deposit build-up in my hair and allows me to consistently go five or six days between washes. i’ve talked about how much i love their hair oil before, so it’s really only natural that i’d fall in love with the other haircare products they’ve got to offer as well.
plantful planner stickers
i love getting little sticker packs to decorate my bullet journal weekly spreads with, and this etsy shop has quickly become my favorite source. the packs are all these adorable, hand-drawn doodles of plants, stars, crystals, and more, and i often use them to inspire the doodles on my monthly spreads.
grove collaborative
hi yes i’ve officially reached peak adulting because i’m a member of a cleaning supply subscription service (you can get a free 5-piece set when you use that link, wink wink). grove is full of all-natural cleaning products from brands i love like method and mrs meyer’s, and you can set things up to deliver to you on a schedule. i love how easy it makes the whole process, and my cleaning supply collection is looking incredible as a result.
arlo motion sensor cameras
one major thing that happened to me this summer is that i got two kittens. they should honestly be a summer favorite in their own right, but i feel like i talk about my cats so much that i’m at risk of falling into the crazy-cat-lady stereotype, so i’ll refrain. these motion sensor cameras are great for while i’m at work though, because i can spy on them whenever i want. as someone who gets antsy about leaving my pets alone while i’m at work all day, this is the perfect solution for that. plus, i’ve gotten some pretty funny clips out of it. 😛
and that’s a wrap for this summer and my fave things from it! did any of the items on my list make your summer favorites list too?
xo, taylor
